New Album

The Burners are going back in the studio on December 2nd to knock out another toe tapper.  Working on at least one composition myself for the record, I may post the demo track I'm stitching together for the band.  It'll sound way better with the talent and not multi-tracking my monotone voice.  Maybe its better to wait, good things happen to those who wait.  Unless its on Craigslist and you should of bought it when you saw it (at Mardens?)

Pier 77, Oct 4th

 Live recordings via iPhone at my last Pier 77 gig for the year.  Really great swanky place.  Best gig I hold down for three and a half months out of the year.  Now its back to the hand to mouth existence I'm more accustomed to.  At the very least I, and now you, can harken back to a time not so long ago when bills were paid without fear and gas was 3.98 a gallon.....

Featuring my cohort Luke Goodine, back in Maine, hawking insurance and ivories.  Also featuring the staff at the Pier, loose silverware, patron banter as white noise, and an audible source of wallpaper.

I never have the time to blog with any consistency.  The last post is a couple years old, but thank God the lesson rates are the same.  At least I'm consistently teaching/gigging and not blogging.  I will make a more formal website in the near future, but perhaps keep this for online content as things develop.

Fall Lessons are here!

Current Lesson Rates: $30/hour or $20/half hour. This home rate is comparable to rates at available locations: Midcoast School of Music in Portland, Midtown Music in Biddeford, and the River Tree Center for the Arts in Kennebunk. Teaching Electric Bass, Upright Bass, and Guitar.

Updates

Touched up the old resume again, and it probably needs a couple more things I forgot about. Been gigging a lot lately, need a day off. I'm going to soon add or change some of the sound clips and clean up odds and ends.

Another Album Done

Did Mike Stockbridge's album on Sunday. Now I am compelled to create a discography for this website. Dana Gross' album is still finishing up in the mastering phase. Going down to NH tomorrow to record a track for another album. The machine keeps on going...

Scott LaFaro Bass Solo; "Autumn Leaves"

This one took a while, but worth it. The solo is a little rubato and muddy in some places, but I'm confident if this is not 98% accurate, it definitely gets the gist of Scott's solo.

Two full albums are still underway. Dana Gross' album is being mixed down and one more recording session for MJ Stockbridge. I will also be making a section for my discography. And perhaps rework this blog so it's more user friendly for all these things I put up.

Recordings!

I have two recordings coming up and/or out. I just did a session for a solo album by Dana Gross, just really great songwriting, which will probably finish up by this month. And next month I'm doing a jazz disc with Mike Stockbridge. It reminds me alot of the second great Miles Davis quintet. The songs build and build as a unit, very organic I 'spose. And the drummer, Shawn Boissonneault, gets to freak out. I get to be the Ron Carter to his Tony Williams. Oh joy!

I don't update this thing often enough. I'm still on the fence about blogging. I need a website that features javascript games, "The Duane Experience."

Facebook may become a reality soon (again).

Sanford School

I've been teaching two classes through the River Tree at the Sanford school system. One was a middle school class on guitar and songwriting, the other being an elementary age group. This is what I learned about composers from my younger class:

-All composers are great singers. A popular example of this would be Beethoven.

Stuff in May

I've put up a new song, "Chowdah a la Mode," from the album. This is the first tune we recorded, I liked the way it came out. It shall humbly live on my blog until we find a better avenue for said recording.

Oh boy!

I have had a great week. I know the greatness of the week officially ended Friday night once I started my taxes. And today it definitively hit a brick wall with my Self-Employment payout to the government. I can see why some get up in arms about where the money goes and what our legislation funds. Still I diligently wait for my bailout check....

The week was so great because I attended a concert with Man Size Safe, the current ensemble of the bassist Ben Allison. The following morning I took a private lesson with him and captured it on my girlfriend's digital recorder. Parts of that lesson may be posted on this here blog down the road as a resource. Now considering all of this I must update my resume. For not only am I "internationally performing bassist" Duane Edwards (one festival in Canada), but I have also studied with Ben Allison.

Its those little things in life that really add up (like my write-offs).

New Music!

Today I am posting the title track from a new album with a new trio. According to the sleeve it is recording "AC-014" put out by the Avant Coast. As impressive as that sounds it is quite grassroots. This was originally conceived by Thom Keith for entry in the RPM challenge. And now we have another gem/diamond-in-the-rough for the greater independent music scene in the tri-state area. Oh boy.
